Ruth Marisa is my name, but who am I?
I'm just...
I carry my story in my soul and I'm going back to my childhood to tell you how Seiva came about. The memories I have of my childhood are of my maternal great-grandfather and grandmother and my mother, where art, creativity and handicrafts were a constant. My great-grandfather was a carpenter, my grandmother was a handicrafts teacher and my mother has the concept of beauty ingrained in her whole being. Everything he touches transforms into something sublime and with an energy that spreads… his hands are like a magic wand. It is this magic that inspires me to leave a piece of myself in each person, each project, each piece.
When I was little, I spent afternoons watching my great-grandfather treat each piece of wood in an artisanal way and I dreamed that one day I would have a space where the arduous task of sawing, sanding and carving wood would become faster and easier. In 1993, the Piramidal project was born, an interior decoration company based in Sintra, where I grew up and created roots.
In 2012 I returned to my origins and opened a Decoration and Outdoor Furniture store in Talatona, Angola, the country where I was born. In 2015, Carpintaria Sucupira was created, a factory where furniture is made to measure, giving shape to kitchens, wardrobes, bathrooms, coatings and floors in an industrial way. But I felt that the connection with my roots was not complete and that was when the Seiva seed began to germinate... At Seiva , like my great-grandfather, all wooden pieces are transformed and finished by hand, always respecting the raw material, adding value and functionality.
“My source of inspiration is Nature and Seiva came about with the aim of bringing the most beautiful forms of nature into our homes, perpetuating its energy in time and space.”
